Union Street Pedestrian Bridge

Originally conceived as an accessible route connecting the Seattle Central Waterfront to First Avenue, the project evolved into a prominent program and wayfinding element whose scope included Pike Place Market via Post Alley thanks to the clever introduction of scissor stairs, a channel glass enclosed pair of elevators, and a generous pedestrian bridge and outlook. Project architect Karen Branick was an invaluable contributor, without whom the design could not have been realized. To view some of John's and Karen's design process, click here.
